The Kacchi woolen shawls represent an exquisite fusion of artistry and style. While men handle the weaving process, women focus on preparing the warp threads. The weft yarn is meticulously prepared by winding it onto small bobbins from the larger hanks. This yarn is then placed on the loom, where the long thread, known as tana, intersects with the shorter thread, called bana, giving rise to the weaving technique referred to as ‘tana bana‘. '

The output produced on the loom varies based on the desired outcome. A basic shawl, which solely involves weaving, may take roughly two days to complete, and typically, at least 5-6 shawls of the same design are woven during each session, leading to a minimum weaving period of about 10 to 12 days. Shawls featuring intricate patterns can require several months to finish.
